Young & Dangerous V

Director:
Andrew Lau
Producer: Manfred
Wong
As usual expect spoilers...
The Last installment
of the series turns out quite well, even though it misses one of its
leading characters, Chicken, played by Jordan Chan. Chan Ho-Nam (Ekin
Cheng) has met his match, yes someone following in his footsteps
and is planning on replacing him for good. He is Szeto Ho-Nam (Mark
Cheng), Szeto is a branch leader of the Tung Sing (known rivals of The
Hing Hung). Szeto has joined forces with a Malaysian Business man who
plans on clearing out the Hing Hung, just in time for the Lunar New
Year!
New character, Big Head
(Chin Kar-Lok) was sent
to prison for manslaughter (This was a test as a Hing Hung Triad, where
he was promised a promotion). The average sentence for Manslaughter
is 4-5 years, although Big Head was sentenced to nine years instead.
Since his release from prison he's given up on being a triad and begins
a tidy living as a news agent. Although he soon troubled by Tung Sing,
after they trash his stall. But The Hing Hung come to the rescue and
Big Head decides to follow Chan Ho-Nam once again...
After meeting up with
Szeto again, this time Big Head volunteers to represent Hing Hung in
a boxing match against Ho Yung. Szeto even sets one on one scrap between
him and Chan Ho-Nam...
Who's Chan Ho-Nams woman
in Young and Dangerous 5!? Well its Mei Ling (Shu
Qi), from Malaysian is quite taken by Chan Ho-Nam. Although she
is also the girl of Uncle Seven another Malaysian Businessman. Although
she has a dark secret...
Is the gang back? Well
after the 4th installment don't be expecting Yee. Pou-Pan (Jerry Lamb)
is back and he must have learned a thing or two from the old priest
(Spencer Lam isn't in this installment either) because he whips some
ass against a Malaysian bodyguard! Banana Skin (Jason Chu) too is back,
although he seems to through himself head first into the battles this
time. After coming to the rescue for Big Head, although he ends up biting
off more than he can chew...
Inspector Lee, no not
the one from the Rush Hour Movies. Inspector Lee (Danny Lee) is a anti-triad
cop who is ready and waiting to pounce on either Hing Hung or Tung Sing.
Although Inspector Lee has taken a shining to Chan Ho-Nams cooperation.
Young & Dangerous
V seems to be a decent ending to the movie. The film doesn't drag at
all, the story might be a tad difficult to get, but it all adds up in
time. Sure some diehard fans will miss the presence of Chicken, although
Chan Ho-Nam & Big Head excel in their roles of this movie. Young
& Dangerous fans will enjoy this movie and my last thoughts on the
subject "Bring on Born to be King!".
