Police Story 2

Director: Jackie Chan

Producer: Leonard Ho

Action Director: Jackie Chan

Cast: Jackie Chan, Maggie Cheung, Benny Lai, Bill Tung, Yuen Chor, Charlie Cho, Ben Lam, Benny Ko, Mars

Overview: With the success of the first Police Story there had to be a sequel and 3 years on from the original, work started on the second Police Story. Reprising his role as the Hong Kong ‘super-cop‘ Ka Kui, Jackie Chan delivers scene after scene! Breath-taking action and putting his life on the line to try and out do it’s predecessor.

Plot: Despite his previous success from the first Police Story and putting Chu Tu (Yuen Chor) behind bars, Ka Kui (Jackie Chan) with his rather unorthodox approach to catching Chu has been demoted to traffic cop. Chu with enough money to wiggle his way out of trouble with the law walks free and to make it an action film, sets out for revenge – to kill Ka Kui.

But Ka Kui also soon finds out that Chu was released from prison on compassionate release (which means they feel sorry for him, since he only has three months left to live). Yet Chu Taos personal assistant, John Ko (Charile Cho) has become one of the burdens that Ka Kui has to face through out the movie. Although when Ka Kui attempted to finish it against Ko, he ends up being suspended.

A group of bomber terrorists (Nick Cheung, Benny Lai and Ben Lam) attempt to blackmail big companies for millions and when one such company is blackmailed Jackie is called upon once again to save the day!

My Thoughts: The start of the film is much similar to that of Project A II, where things kick off with a montage of scenes from the first film. Then we see Jackie stop a group of truckers including a cameo from Benny Lau, we soon also discover that he has been demoted to traffic cop and that Chu is still after him. The fights are top notch and hailed by fans and critics alike as some of his best work. Obviously being the sequel it is often compared to Police Story, which is rather un-fair because it set the standards. Although some may be disappointed with this – sequels are meant to out-do their predecessors on the whole Police Story 2 delivers breathtaking fights and incredible stunt sequences. The mix of action, comedy and serious and not so serious is blended together quite well and May (Maggie Cheung, top right) Ka Kui's girlfriend is still as funny as ever with some outstanding moments!

Final Thoughts: Overall this is a worthy sequel with great action and comedy moments from Jackie and other characters even from Bill Tung!
