My Sassy
Girl

Director:
Kwak Jae-Young
Gyeon-Woo
is a hopeless student who has his world flipped upside down when he
meets a young women one night. Gyeon-Woo had saved the girl from being
struck by a train, the girls was standing to close to the edge and was
obviously drunk. When boarding on the train, things go from bad to worse.
From the girl throwing up over an old man to Gyeon-Woo being flung in
jail with a group of bloody gangsters.
This
is only really the start of his problems, when released from the cells,
Gyeon-Woo receives a phone call from the girl ordering him to meet up
with her at once. She turns out to be quite wicked girl, telling Gyeon-Woo
what he shall eat and drink...if he disagrees with her, he dies. Well
in her own words "You wanna die?".
Gyeon-Woo
begins dating this crazy girl, he mentions when she isn't drunk she
is his perfect type of woman. Although she insists that she must be
kept happy at all times, if not she will become a rain of bad luck to
him.
Leaving
the story aside, I'll go into some detail on the girl. The girl doesn't
get named in the movie at all, that's why she is referred to as 'The
Girl'. One of her hobby's is writing stories which consist of couples.
The first story is a futuristic gunplay flick where the leading girl
saves her boyfriend from a group of thugs. Another story includes a
the couple in a swordplay adventrue. There is ten rules that a man must
go by if they want to date this girl;
- Dont
ask her to be feminine
- Don't
let her drink over three glasses
- At
a Cafe, drink Coffee instead of coke or juice
- If
she hits you, act like it hurts, If it it hurts, act like it doesnt
- On
your 100th day together, give her a rose during her class
- Make
sure you learn fencing and squash
- Be
prepared to go to Prison
- If
she threatens to kill you, dont take it as a joke
- If
her feet hurt, exchange shoes with her
- Encourage
her to write
Gyeon-Woo
is well mannered, although gives up to easy in arguments and takes orders
without questions. Yes basically he's the bitch of this relationship.
His luck cant get worse when he attempts to ignore her and begin hitting
on other women and the first women he hits on is The Girl! and he even
use the cheesy chat up line "Hey Baby, Are you free?".
I
liked the directors camera tricks how characters past by each other
without noticing, you see this trick used alot at the end of the movie.
Its well done and suits the film perfectly.
My
thoughts on the film, its a light hearted romantic comedy which is very
ordinal and amusing. I even enjoy the little piano tune that plays through
the film.
