A Moment of Romance 2

Director: Benny Chan & Johnny To

Producer: Johnny To

Plot: Celia (Wu Chien-lien) is a Mainlander who snuck to over Hong Kong to raise money. She needs to earn $50,000 to release her brother (Cheung Tat-Ming) from prison. With no other choice she turns to prostitution to raise the money, but after witnessing a triad killing his boss she's on the run from the triads and after assaulting a nosy cop (Ho Pak-Kwong) she's now on the run from the cops too!

Who can save her from all this misery? Frank (Aaron Kwok) a soft-spoken street racer with a tragic past. Frank's mother died in car accident in which his father (Paul Chun) blames him for and has disowned him. Although with him moving to the states soon he really wants to patch things up with his only son.

A loving relationship between Celia and Frank blossoms although it can only end in tragedy.

Review: Being a sequel the main question stands out, can Aaron Kwok really play the role better than Andy Lau? I have to say Andy Lau's performance in the first movie is unbeatable. Aaron Kwok's role as Frank is still very good, it would be unfair to compare them.

Anthony Wong appears in the movie as Frank's racing rival - Dino. He's beating all the best, but he hasn't raced against Frank. Although Dino's a dirty racer and will go to any length to get the victory.

Ho Pak-Kwong's role as the cop - Bill. After being assaulted by Celia and signed off from the police force he goes out of his way to arrest Celia. Although his character goes from bad guy and his character slowly changes to good towards the end. His role is a good way to remember the late veteran actor.

Another notable character in the movie is Jack (Roger Kwok), Frank's long time best friend and racing buddy, but he's now handicapped and acts as Franks manager, place his bets etc. Jack's character finds himself in a large amount of debt and contemplates betraying Frank to earn himself some serious cash. Now I had a thought, if Leslie Cheung had this role rather than Roger Kwok the movie could have actually been quiet the award winning movie!

Guest appearances? Lee Siu-Kei appears in the movie as a bookie and William Ho makes a short appearance the triad gang leader who get's killed off early on.

Final Thoughts, a good film, although it's strangely short (80 min's). Enjoy!
