The Riders Return?

In 1998 Andrew Lau directed the movie adaptation of the famous chinese fantasy comic book Fung Wan. The movie released as "The Storm Riders" starring Aaron Kwok and Ekin Cheng.
Andrew Lau at the time known more famously as cinematographer than a film director with achievements like the Young and Dangerous series and Category III cult classics The Naked Killer and Raped by an Angel under his cap.
Kwok at the time was known famously for his role in the Shaw Brothers Kung Fu flick - The Bare Foot Kid. Whereas Ekin Cheng was noticed by his peers for his role as Chan Ho-Nam in the triad series Young & Dangerous.
Fast forward nine years, present day (October 2007). Andrew Lau has now received world-wide fame for his work on the Infernal Affairs trilogy starring Andy Lau and Tony Leung. The film resulted in a Oscar winning remake by Martin Scorsese.

7 Years later: Ekin Cheng and Aaron Kwok reunite in Divergence.
Kwok with three Best Actor awards under his belt for his roles in Divergence and After this Our Exile, proving has gotten finer with age. Ekin Cheng has been receiving more recognition towards his music career, than his acting. Although he was reunited with Kwok in Benny Chan's 2005 cop thriller Divergence.
Remember the expression, you spend all day waiting for a bus, then three come along at once?
After waiting several years for a Storm Riders sequel (ignoring the Ching Siu-Tong TV Series, which was edited into a 2 hour TV Movie starring "The Black Sheep" Vincent Zhao) we are now supposedly getting two Storm rider Movies!
Original director Andrew Lau has a reportedly finished the screenplay for the follow up movie to the original and is more than eager to get into production with both Cheng and Kwok reprising their roles as Wind and Cloud.
Hong Kong horror director Oxide Pang has supposedly been in talks with comic book creator Ma Wing Shing with the intention of creating his own understanding of the fantasy saga. Oxide apparently also wants Ekin Cheng and Aaron Kwok to star in the movie.
So there you have, the race is on! Both men are expected to continue with their projects, hopefully they will pan out. I loved Storm riders and I'm more than happy to see two sequels in the work. It's more pleasing known that both directors are wanting the original actors to reprise their famous roles.
Pang vs. Lau
May the best movie win!
