Bey Logans Thoughts On Jet Li

When Did You First Meet Jet Li?

As I remember, I first met Jet at the press conference for 'Bodyguard From Beijing'. I think I was more interested in meeting Christy Chung! I remember he was surprised that I spoke Cantonese. I finally interviewed for 'Impact' magazine on the set of 'Black Mask'.

What was the first Jet Li film you saw?

'Shaolin Temple', but the first Jet Li movie I enjoyed was 'Martial Arts Of Shaolin', which I still think is his best 'mainland' movies.

What is your presonal favorite Jet film?

It would have to be 'Once Upon A Time In China', though he had a good run, didn't he? 'OUATC 2 & 3', 'Fong Sai Yuk', 'Fist Of Legend'... He should never have gone to Hollywood...

Have You been on Set of any of Jets films?

Yes, I visited the set of 'Black Mask', the finale, which was shot up at the Golden Harvest studios. Most of the end fight was Jet's double, so I had plenty of time to talk to him!

How do you feel about his US films?

They're pretty ropey, aren't they? He needs to stop making films with rappers and Luc Besson, and get back to Hong Kong.

Would would you feel if you worked with Jet Li in the future?

I'd love to work with him, and, in fact, we're talking about something now. He's a great action star, and any writer and producer in the genre would be honoured to make a Jet Li movie!

Any funny stories on Jet?

Back in 1997, I was at the Handover Show, under the stage with Donnie Yen, preparing for his demo, and I became aware that there was this guy trying to sneak up on us. I thought it was one of the fans. When he got closer, I turned around and held him back, and its Jet! He and Donnie had a chat, and then they were warming up for their shows. Great stuff!
